Holidays / Vacaciones!

Hiii everybody, I'm leaving tomorrow (Saturday 17th) and I will be out until February 1st, without Internet connection... as now. I will have once in a while the chance to get online, but... not much. I will travel with my beloved husband, and his parents, and some other people, into an amazing trip, I'll tell you all about when I return. But something is for sure, it will be amazing, and I really hope to recharge myself and get lots of inspiration :) ♥

Hola!!! Mañana (Sábado 17) y hasta el 1ro de Febrero estaré sin internet... bueno, podré conectarme de vez en cuando pero no estaré todo el tiempo aquí. Did I tell you I'm going to start a Visual Arts Professorship next year? well, I'm totally excited about, and I had some introductory lessons, more to come, but in March.
So, yesterday we were playing with special ink, and a technique I can't find its name in english, but is like, you paint a glass surface in the table, with this ink, all of it, and then put a white paper on it, and carefully start drawing something on its back, when you take your paper out, the side facing the inked glass will be painted. Is not a neat technique, but it was fun.
These are my really simple drawings. Just so you can know things they make me do, yes, they look a bit weird :D

Se acuerdan que voy a entrar a un profesorado en Artes Visuales el año que viene, no? bueno tuve un par de clases introductorias, y el resto seguirán en marzo del año que viene.
Ayer hicimos una técnica llamada Grabado - Monocopia, que resumiendo consiste en poner un vidrio sobre una mesa, y pintarlo bien parejo con una tinta especial. Luego, colocar una hoja blanca encima, y con mucho cuidado, dibujar algo del lado de atrás de la hoja. Al sacar la hoja, el dibujo habrá sido impreso gracias a la tinta sobre la cual estaba apoyada y nuestra presión.
Es una técnica bastante desprolija, y primera vez que hago algo así, pero lo disfruté, mis dibujitos son re sencillos, por supuesto!
Si, tienen un efecto raro :D

Happy Thanksgiving to America!

We don't have in my country a holiday like thanksgiving, such a shame. I love there is a holiday in North America for remembering how important is to be grateful.
I believe it helps making our mind aware of what it really matters in life.
To be thankful heals our soul, bound us together, brings smiles to us and warmth to our hearts. Such a wonderful and lovely feeling.
So, I will say today, that I'm thankful for quite a big list in my life, my family, all my dear friends, the fact that I have a lovely home, with food and hot water, computers and so on, a healthy body, and good humour.
But eventhough I could easily go on with that list... what I really wanna say here is that I'm thankful for all these lovely people I've met along this last year, from other countries, europeans, indians, and americans.
I love you all so much.
Some of you are like artsy friends, others are like fans (love to have fans!!! :D) I so love each one of you, makes me so happy we found each other.
So, to sum up, if you can read this in english, then I meant this for you :)

Yep, I know is a bit early yet to be thinking in finishing the year, and starting a new one... but time goes fast, doesn't it? and somehow I found myself thinking about all the things that happened to me this year, and all the things I plan to do next one.

In one week I'll have another degree from college, that is a really cool way of making a closure of the year. And so many lovely things happened to me in the artistic and personal field, I've met a lot of amazing people, artists, fans ;) that my heart melts when thinking in all them :)
I have a new soul-niece :) ♥
My dear dear cousin, he is almost like a little brother for me, is going to move to USA with his wife and kids. Oh my, I will miss him so much.
My mom is growing up so much, she is studying a new career after being a self-taught jewelry maker for 30 years or so, and finally this career appeared and she is there, so happy, learning tons, she really deserves it :)

I've been working out a lot compared to my prior years :D (4 times a week, pilates and aqua gym). I've changed the way I dress up for work, like... 180 degrees (I may say thanks to Tim Gunn :D)

I've cleaned so much in my life, letting old things go away, and letting new fresh things enter.
I'm all excited to start a new year. Happy and full of motivation.

I will enter again to college, found this Visual Arts professorship in my town that I'm already registered to it. Will be tough, really with lot to do, but... we can regret lot of things from our lives, but we never regret doing our best effort ;)

I'm so hooked with it :D

El año, aún un poco pronto lo sé, pero pasa rápido y de algún modo me encuentro ya pensando en lo que ha sido de este año, y todo lo que me espera para el próximo!!!

Me recibo de Licenciada en Tecnologías Educativas en una semana (glup) y eso si que es un buen cierre de año!!!! :D
Además de todo lo que me ha pasado a nivel artístico y personal. Conocer un montón de personas re lindas, de artistas, de fans ;D, etc.
Tengo sobrina, que es un amor :)
Uno de mis primos que es como un hermano para mi, se está llendo a vivir a Estados Unidos. Cómo lo voy a extrañar!!
Mi madre está fantástica, está estudiando, creciendo, feliz de la vida, y creo que le hacía falta ya estar tan bien ♥
Estoy haciendo mucho ejercicio (pilates, gimnasia acuática, que suman 4 veces por semana) además voy a masajes para cuidar las piernas. He cambiado el look para ir a trabajar en un 100%
(iba de jogging... si, si lo sé :D en qué estaba pensando?! ; ahora voy de traje!)

En fin, en términos generales ha sido un año de cambios, donde he limpiado muchas cosas de mi vida, y permitido entrar otras nuevas.
Estoy feliz, con pilas, y con muchas ganas de comenzar el año que viene, cerrando ciclos y terminando este año de las mejores maneras posibles ♥
Y el año que viene voy a ir a estudiar... de nuevo!!! :D pero esta vez será en Artes Visuales.
Hay un profesorado de Artes Visuales en mi ciudad, que la gente dice es muy muy bueno. Ya me he inscripto, y estoy haciendo las clases nivelatorias. Estoy super enganchada :) Será un poco esforzado, porque el ritmo de clases es todos los días, todas las tardes, y tengo que seguir llendo a trabajar, y hacer ejercicio, y además, me darán toneladas de trabajos para hacer.
Pero, nos arrepentimos de muchas cosas en la vida, es cierto. Pero nunca nos arrepentimos de habernos esforzado, cierto? Así que allí voy!!!! :D
Espero que todos ustedes tengan un cierre de año significativo y genial también, que tengan entusiasmo por empezar el año que viene, proyectos nuevos, energías nuevas, y mucho amor y alegría en el medio de todo eso. Les deseo lo mejor para este cierre de año!!! ♥♥♥

Stool / Banquito

This stool is totally out of fashion.

I made a new cover for it, though, but that's not the point.

This stool was my mom's stool when she was studying at college. At that point, for sure it was a brand new and 100% fashion stool. Then, she got married. Had a baby. That baby grew up a bit, and played for hours upon this stool. The floor looked soooo cool and far away from me, I felt like I was up in the sky from there. How much I loved to play on it.

Then, I was an student at college myself, so this stool was my partner. I spent lot of time on it, reading, drinking tea, and trying to improve myself.

Then, I grew up a bit more, got married, and this stool is my partner in my paintings and crafts moments.

Ohhh, you may just see a simple stool.

I see SO much on it, so much love and joy, so much history, so much family, so much time.

To you, my beloved stool!!

Este banquito está definitivamente fuera de moda.
Le hice una funda nueva, si, aunque ese no es el punto.
Este banquito pertenecía a mi mamá, cuando ella empezó la universidad. Por aquella época, era un banquito 100% nuevo y a la moda. Luego mi mamá conoció a mi papá, y se casaron. Tuvieron un bebé. Cuando era pequeña, me fascinaba jugar encima de él, el piso se veía tan tan abajo, era como si estuviera mirando todo desde el cielo mismo. Amaba ese banquito.
Luego, me tocó a mi ser estudiante, y este banquito pasó a ser mi compañero de estudio, la de horas que me pasé sentada en él leyendo y tratando de mejorar mi persona, tomando té y demás.
Luego, crecí otro poquito más, me casé, y este banquito pasó a ser mi compañero de pinturas y manualidades.
Seguramente, vean solo un banquito.
Yo veo tanto tanto en él, tantas cosas. Tanto amor y diversión, tanta historia, tanta familia, una línea de tiempo familiar.

Wire holders / Porta cables

This is a very fast thing I made yesterday... these little wires on my working table, are kinda of uncomfortable to deal with... so I took some paper rolls, and picked the first pretty enough paper I had on my house: problem solved (I think that making them with more time I will paint some paper, and wrap it with it) Anyway, here they are. It's LOT more comfy now ;D
Wires are easy to put and take out from them.

Hice ayer bien rapidito, estos portacables, realmente tener dando vueltas en mi tablero estos cables se vuelve un poco molesto. Así es que con un par de rollos de papel higiénico, y el primer papel suficientemente bonito que tenía, problema resuelto. (Pienso que la próxima vez, pintando una hoja de papel madera con florcitas y envolviéndolos con eso, los puedo dejar mucho más bonitos) De todos modos, aquí están, de seguro que es MÁS cómodo ahora lidiar con ellos ;D
Además, son fáciles de poner y sacar los cables de ellos.

What can I say? I think my simple watercolor flowers look quite nice... what I do love, is my NEW Moleskine notebook for watercolor, I can, now, understand why Moleskine is so famous among artists, such an amazing quality of paper... aww, lovely to work on it :)
As I'm starting to learn to work with watercolors, I decided I will do pretty simple stuff first so I can get used to the way the work. This is what I just did today :) I'm still feeling quite shy to paint :D

Bueno... creo que a pesar de todo, mis florcitas, siendo muy simples, se ven bonitas. Lo que si, definitivamente amo, es mi nuevo cuaderno de Moleskine para acuarelas, creo que ya entendí porqué es tan famosa esa marca entre los artistas, que CALIDAD de papel alucinante que tiene, ... AMO trabajar en él :)
Como apenas comienzo con las acuarelas, decidí hacer cosas más sencillas, muchas flores por ahora, como para ir soltándome, y acostumbrarme a cómo es trabajar con ellas. Esto es lo que acabo de terminar :) aún me siento tímida para pintar :D

Photo shooting / Sacar fotos... ??

En serio... tendría que dedicarle un par de días, y aprender a sacar mejores fotos!! :D

Realmente, sin nada para decir ni publicar hoy, pero he estado toda la semana pensando, mientras veo algunas de las fotos que podría publicar... ¡¿Cómo hacen los otros blogers para armar fotos TAN buenas?! ...
¿alguna marca de cámara de fotos que prefieran? ¿Cuál tienen, y porqué la aman? si tienen ganas de compartirlo conmigo, me hará feliz saberlo también :)

mhh, me voy a dedicar a salir a sacar fotos un rato, me parece que es lo mejor que puedo hacer :D

Milk / Leche

Estoy bastante atareada escribiendo una tesina, pero necesitaba un cable a tierra estos días, así que con mi esposo hicimos (el pintó el azul de fondo, yo las flores) unos nuevos porta sachet de leche, quedaron lindos no? :)

I've been very bussy writing a final thesis for collegue, but I really needed something to unplug my brain a while, so we (hubby and I) made this ... pots... for holding the milk bags... (he painted the blue background, I did the flowers) they ended up nice, didn't they?

debería sacar unas nuevas fotos de las flores, más de cerca, porque me quedaron todas un poco movidas...

... I should make a better picture of the flowers... but I have all them unfocused now, ...

I've just finished my Birdie collection, I thought of them specially as a collection of framed art, like these pictures show. But, there is no need of buying them all, you can have only one, you can even have it as a t-shirt or as an iphone case!! :D

Hice un sketch bien rápido en lápiz para iniciar mis primeros pasos con las acuarelas... Dios... tengo tanto para aprender :D me compré unas acuarelas básicas por ahora, para familiarizarme, porque las profesionales, realmente cuestan una fortuna ahora... y no son tiempos para gastar :S

luego os muestro como me va quedando... :#)

I made a fast sketch, so I could paint it with watercolors... oh my, I do have to learn a lot still :D I bought last week some basic watercolors to start playing, not professional ones, cause those are really expensive now, and this is no a good moment for spending money (huge inflation) :S

Sewing / Cosiendo...

There is this sweet girl, works a lot cleaning houses, with tons of brothers and sisters.
Her sister had a baby last week, and she asked me if I could sew a diaper bag for her.

Of course I can! :D .... plus a portable mat for changing diapers with a kinda of oilcloth layer on top for easy cleaning, that a friend of mine says is awesomely useful :)

So, this is what I've been doing this whole weekend...
* The diaper bag has outside pockets, and 4 inner pockets.

She brought me the fabrics, hope her sister likes it!! :)

Hay una chica, muy dulce y jóven, que trabaja limpiando en las casas, y tiene un montón de hermanos. Una de sus hermanas tuvo un bebé la semana pasada, y ella me pidió si le podía coser un bolso. Je, claro que si!! Claro que no pude con mi genio y le agregué un cambiador portable, que tiene PVC cristal encima así es fácil de limpiar, que según una amiga mia es GENIAL. Así que, esto es lo que estuve haciendo todo el fin de semana...
* El bolso tiene dos bolsillos externos, y 4 internos.

Ella me trajo las telas, espero que a su hermana le guste!!! :)

Esta es mi merienda hace ya un par de semanas, y me encanta! le he encontrado varias ventajas: primero, me evita comer galletitas, torta y cosas por el estilo en la tarde, de manera habitual. En segundo lugar, me como una manzana si o si todos los días, y en tercer lugar como un poco de avena todos los días... en fin, creo que está genial y me parece delicioso! y la satisfacción y sensación de bienestar y llena, dura mucho mucho rato.

This is my afternoon's snack (thanks to VictoryGirl for helping me, I used a wrong word for snack) it makes me happy, cause, first of all, it helps me avoiding things like sweet cookies, cakes and stuff, on regular basis... second place, it makes me eat an apple yes or yes everyday, and a bit of oats... I love it!!! it's EASY and fast to make, and it makes you feel full quite a lot of time, can't ask for more :D

Mi receta es:

para 1 persona

- 1 manzana roja limpia
- 1 taza de agua tibia, poner en licuadora
- Agregar 2 cucharadas de avena y dejar remojar unos minutos
- Agregar en trozos la manzana
- Agregar miel a gusto (o el endulzante que uses, aunque la miel le da un toque especial)

Licuar bien, y servir!!! Al tener, en mi caso, el agua tibia, y la manzana fria, queda a una temperatura ambiente agradable para invierno :)

My own recipe is:

1 serving

- 1 red apple, cleaned
- 1 cup of warm water, into the blender
- Add 2 tablespoons of oats into the blender and let it soak for some minutes
- Cut into pieces and add the apple to the blender
- Add honey to your taste (or the sweetener you like, though honey gives this special touch...)

Blend it very well, and enjoy!!! I use the warm water so oats get more soft, and with the cold apple, all mixes up in something at a kind of room temperature, nice for winter :)

Desde que hice este blog (en el 2007), muchas cosas han pasado, e incluso el mismo blog fue mutando, jajaja, recuerdo que comenzó siendo un blog de tejido... y mira adónde hemos venido a parar!!!! si, si sigo tejiendo un poquito, aunque coser le ganó, y ... dibujar, bueno, eso se ha vuelto mi actividad principal ;)

Mini how to: "Cord Loop" / Pequeño tutorial: "Ojal de cordón"

Dibujé este mini tutorial, he escrito las instrucciones en inglés, y creo, que con las imagenes se entiende igual... pero si alguna lo quisiera en español, me avisa, y hago su versión en español, si? :)

Sirve para poder hacer esos ojales de cordón (ni idea cuál es su nombre técnico... :#D)
Si queremos hacer un pequeño muñeco de tela, relleno, y luego tener de donde colgarlo, o si queremos hacer un pequeño llavero de tela... etc, tiene muchos usos :D

I've drawn this mini tutorial on how to sew a cord loop (I'm almost sure that's NOT it's technical name :D but I have no idea how it calls, so, I'm hoping you will understand what it is when looking these pictures)

In this case, I use this when doing a little key holder, or when sewing a plushie that I want to hang up in a mobile. This will give me the "where" being able to hang it up :P

oook... too much writing, I hope is useful and that my illustrations and explanations are clear enough ;)

Acabo de sacar del horno estos pancitos que hice, si, los amasé yo y todo :D
Que ricoooooos!!!!

Para los que me estuvieron preguntando cómo los hice / For those who were asking me how I made them...

RECETA

- 1 kg de Harina con levadura de pan en polvo (yo usé una que viene todo en el mismo paquete, pero sino comprás el sobrecito de levadura en polvo aparte y harina común y listo)
- una cucharada de Sal (Marina en mi caso)
- un pocillo de aceite
- unos 650cm3 de Agua
- unas 4 cucharadas de Azúcar

Mezclar todo lo seco, agregar el aceite y el agua. Mezclar y amasar bien, agregar harina extra de a poco si queda demasiado blando. Tenés que poder amasarlo sin que se te quede pegado en las manos. BIEN amasado. Partís en dos trozos, y los ponés en el horno (previamente caliente) a fuego mínimo a moderado. Por unos 40 min aprox.
Los sacás cuando esté tostadita la cáscara. Y listo :)

RECIPE

- 1 kg (2.2 lb or 35.3 oz) of Flour, that one with yeast already incorporated (not with baking soda, but yeast, else you buy plain flour, and add powder yeast)
- 1 tablespoon of Sea Salt
- 1 coffee cup of Oil
- About 650cm3 (2.75 cup?) of Water
- About 4 tablespoons of Sugar

Mix all the dry ingredients. Add oil and water. Mix again, and knead really well.
If it's too sticky, add some flour as you need. Until it's soft and no more sticking to your fingers.
Knead it really well.
Split in half.
Put into oven (already hot) for about 40 minutes. Or until crust is golden as you like.
Ready :)

Chocolate Cake / Torta de Chocolate

So, with all this snowing outside... whole day now, and still keeps falling from the sky those tiny iced drops... I had to bake a chocolate cake :D of course... the yummy applesauce one, is not here since... long time ago :P :D

I decided to give it a try to this recipe, from Martha Stewart's website:

I did tiny changes cause of what I had in my kitchen (replace the cocoa for chocolate bars that I first melted)

Con toda esta nieve, y esta torta manía que me agarró estos días, decidí hacer una torta de chocolate... y utilicé esta receta de Martha Stewart
Hice algunos pequeños cambios, debido a lo que tenía en mi despensa... cambié el cacao por barras de chocolate en taza que derretí primero.

Ultimate Chocolate Cake - Translation
Ingredientes
1 taza de Cacao (usé 300gr de chocolate para taza en barra, marca Aguila)
3/4 taza de Café bien caliente
1 taza de Leche a temperatura ambiente
2 3/4 taza de Harina (usé harina leudante)
1/2 cucharadita de Sal (usé una cucharadita entera, pero de Sal marina que es más suave y sana)
1 1/2 taza de Manteca a temperatura ambiente
2 1/2 taza de Azúcar
1 cucharada de Extracto de Vainilla
4 huevos grandes a temperatura ambiente
Azúcar impalpable para decorar a gusto

Instrucciones
1. Dejar enmantecado y demás un molde de biscochuelo común.
(Yo lo cociné en la olla Essen)

2. Derretir el chocolate a baño maría, junto al café, agregar al final la leche y mezclar bien.
Dejar enfriar aparte.

3. Mezclar la harina con la sal, apartar.

4. Mezclar en un bol, la manteca sola por unos dos minutos, y luego agregar la azúcar y la vainilla. Mezclar, e ir agregando los huevos de a uno.
Agregar la mezcla de chocolate enfriado. Mezclar bien.

5. Agregar la harina, mezclando hasta combinar todo y verter en el molde.
6. Cocinar como todo biscochuelo.
(En mi olla essen, a fuego mínimo a moderado, necesita una hora y 10 min.)
Dejar enfriar unos minutos, desmoldar... y disfrutar!!! :D
Queda MUY RICA, tanto que está genial para comerla sola, sin dulce de leche ni nada, tiene un gusto muy rico a biscochuelo de chocolate, una delicia!!!

Applesauce Cake / Torta de Salsa de Manzana

Today I was in need of something sweet... .... ... baking time!!! :D

As I found Martha Stewart's website, and seeing she is soo famous, I decided to give it a try, so I made this applesauce cake here.

... it's soooo YUMMY!!! wonderful and easy cake for our afternoon-tea ;)

and there are soo many cake recipes in her site... have to try them all :D

Hoy tenía muchas ganas de algo dulce... ... jeje, momento de tortas!!! :D
Encontré en Internet, a Martha Stewart, por supuesto, es un sitio todo en inglés, y por lo que veo ella es muy famosa en su país, y tiene un poco de todo, desde decoración, vida, hasta manualidades, cocina, etc. Decidí hacer una receta de una torta con salsa de manzana, que sale aquí.
Usé un molde diferente, pero... que RICA que salió!!! es sencilla de hacer, y está genial para tomar el té de la tarde!! :D
Y tiene una lista TAN grande de tortas para hacer... será cuestión de empezar a hacerlas... todas :P

Translating a bit this recipe, to spanish:

Les traduzco la receta al español:

Ingredientes
3 tazas de harina multi propósito
2 cucharaditas de polvo de hornear (* yo usé directamente harina leudante)
1 cucharadita de sal
1 1/2 cucharadita de canela
1 1/4 cucharadita de cardamomo molido
1 taza de manteca, sin sal, a temperatura ambiente
2 tazas de azúcar rubia (usé común)
1/4 taza de miel
2 huevos grandes
2 tazas de Salsa de Manzana (es fácil de hacer)
Azúcar impalpable para decorar

Modo
Mezclar en un bol, la harina, el polvo de hornear, la sal, la canela y el cardamomo. Apartar.
En otro bol, con la batidora eléctrica, mezclar la manteca, la azúcar rubia, y la miel. Agregar de a uno los huevos y seguir batiendo, hasta que esté todo combinado. Agregar de a poco la mezcla seca de harina. Terminar por agregar con cucharada, la salsa de manzana.
Cocinar por unos 60 minutos, como cualquier biscochuelo.
Dejar enfriar unos 10 minutos, sacar del molde, y espolvorear con azúcar impalpable.

Applesauce translation / Salsa de Manzana

1/2 kg manzanas
1 ramita de canela
2 a 4 cucharadas de azúcar
3/4 taza de agua
2 cucharaditas de jugo fresco de limón

Preparación
Pelar, quitar el centro y cortar las las manzanas en rodajas de 1 cm.
En una sartén, poner todos los ingredientes MENOS el limón.
Poner al fuego, cuando rompa en hervor, bajar el fuego, tapar, y ocasionalmente revolver.
Cocinar así unos 30 a 35 minutos, hasta que las manzanas estén tiernas.
Quitar del fuego, quitar la ramita de canela. Y agregar el jugo de limón.

Me compré una remalladora / overlock!!! Estoy aprendiendo a usarla, y ya la estoy amando :D
Siempre había sido una fanática de las máquinas Singer, supongo porque para empezar es una marca muy conocida en Argentina, y en segundo lugar, aprendí a coser básico básico cuando era chica con aquella a pedal, toda de metal, Singer, unas máquinas de antes impresionantes!
PERO, esta vez, cuando decidí comprarme primero mi máquina de coser (Brother CS6000i) y por supuesto mi overlock ahora (Brother 3034D) investigué mucho en Internet para saber qué comprarme.
Me leí todos los comentarios que pude, en particular en el sitio de Amazon, donde los usuarios van dando sus opiniones, y realmente me alegro de haberlo hecho.
Amo la matriceria de estas máquinas, amo que sin tener idea, he cosido de todo, que son fáciles RE fáciles de usar, de poner los hilos, etc. Se puede ir re lento, incluso con la remalladora que hasta trae un video en español explicando como ponerle los 4 hilos, y todo lo demás.
QUE DELICIA que son.

I finally bought an overlock for me, still learning how to use it, and loving it already sooo much :D
I've been always a Singer fan... well, till now. I guess cause my first sewing class with my grandma, was when I was a little girl, in front of her amazing old, whole metal terrific Singer machine. Those were horses, still are.
But, when time came, and I decided to buy my first sewing machine, I did search a lot on the Internet, forums, and so on, for user reviews... and of course, spent all my time reading Amazon reviews :D
So, I ended up choosing Brother brand this time. (model CS6000i for the sewing machine, and Brother 3034D for the overlock)
AND, I'm soooo soo happy I did that.
They are incredible EASY to learn and use. I don't know anything of calibrating, or whatever, and I've already been sewing like hell :D and everything goes smooth.
LOVE it sooo much.
They have such a incredible quality detail, oh boy, I couldn't be happier with this brand these days :)

Me desvelé un tanto temprano esta mañana, para lo que son mis horarios (que incluyen acostarme tipo 01.00 am casi siempre) así que seguí tejiendo una bufanda super clásica, en gris oscuro, cashmilon gordo sedificado, para ir al trabajo con mi ropa de vestir.

Ningún decorado, pero está quedando re linda creo :)
(La estoy tejiendo en punto inglés, el mismo que usé en mi primera bufanda aquí)

I really woke up early this morning, considering I always go to bed not earlier than 01.00 am, so, I've been knitting till now, this really classic scarf to go with my working-clothes, just a dark grey, in a really heavy soft warm wool (very cold here these days)

It has no decoration at all, but I do love it already :)

Hola, mi tela de cohetes, que participó en el concurso semanal de Spoonflower, cuyo tema era el 4 de julio americano (día de la independencia) y los fuegos artificiales, quedó en 4to lugar de 188 diseños!!!! Estoy SUPER FELIZ!!!

Fast baby booties / Patucos para bebé rápidos

Martina necesita unos escarpines/botitas/patucos abrigaditos, se ha venido un invierno fresco, así que agarré mi bolsa de retazos, y con lo que tenía a mano, le hice unos de estos a mi sobrinita de alma, espero dárselos pronto! Me hubiera gustado poder hacerlos más dulces, o con algún detalle delicado, pero estos son los retazos de polar que tenía, ... y bueno, será para los próximos :D

Encontré este tutorial gracias a Dorothy, que me fue super útil! :)

Martina needs some warm baby booties, winter time here, and cold days, specially for a little baby girl like she is. So I picked up my scraps bag as I am the coolest aunt in the world :D ;), and did what I could with what I had...

La mamá de Martina (mi nueva sobrinita de alma) me dijo desesperada que necesitaba más baberos del que le había regalado, porque es un modelo pequeño, y le viene perfecto para cuando Martina termina de tomar la leche, y se le cae una babita.
(tiene un par de meses recién, aún es pequeña y no come sólidos)

Martina's mum called me desperately in need of more bibs as the little one I made for her (Martina is my new soul nephew) So I made a few more, I took the tutorial and pattern from here. (model C)
She (the mum) is in love with that bib's size, cause is perfect now, Martina only drinks milk, she is still a little cute baby girl, so those are the perfect size. (no solid meals yet)

I followed this page (it's in spanish, though) of course I made some little changes to it, depending of what I had at home :D

This is my way of showing sewing ideas with my fabrics. For being honest, this particular idea of my Lady Jokers fabric as a curtain is from a client that is making them for her kitchen :)

Tengo tienda con mis dibujos en mi Society6, recién empiezo allí, así que por ahora solo tengo algunos de mis diseños en tamaños pequeños, para tarjetas o cuadritos.
En un futuro iré armando para remeras, skins para notebooks, iphones, entre otros :)
(necesito comprarle más memoria a mi computadora :S)

Some Spoonflower Tips

I decided to share some things here, specially for new people in Spoonflower, cause when I was new there, there were things, like choosing a type of fabric, for example, that I made in a blind way :D
So, after a while inside this awesome site, I will share some little tips and info from what I've already learned from the Spoonflower community.

Of course, I assume you have, at least, your Spoonflower account. And, these are just some tips from my personal preferences, they do not replace at all reading Spoonflower Help and FAQs :)

There are some main issues would be great if you get an idea about:

Colour and the Printing process
Type of Fabrics
Paying, Delivery and Customs

Colour and the Printing process

Printing has been, and still is, a huge complex issue when it comes to have, SAME colours you see in your computer screen, into paper, or fabric, or whatever physical medium you choose to print on.
So, digital fabric designers make a big testing of trial and error, to find those colours that better match, that have the closest look between a computer screen and the fabric... But, again, even computer screen's vary from one to another.
So, you need to be aware of that, and expect at least a bit of difference in the real fabric you will get.
Is not to panic though. Sometimes, colours will be just a tiny bit lighter than what you see in your screen. Or the designer will let you know that a particular colour you see in the screen, will actually print like "..."
Designers, anyway, along their personal growing road, collect their own personal colour palette that prints as they want.
So, Don't panic, just be aware of the complexity of printing colours.

Type of Fabrics

First of all, you can read in Spoonflower site about the fabrics they print on.
What I'm going to share here, is what I gathered from others designers experience and mine.

The best fabrics for me are:

Cotton Sateen (as a general purpose cotton fabric; for using it in clothes, patchwork, quilting, kids clothes, skirts, tops, and so on)

Cotton Knit (oh this is a super soft wonderful fabric, specially awesome for babies clothes)

Linen Cotton Canvas (this one is wonderful for making a bag, cushions, aprons and some sort of things like that)

Fabrics I don't have any idea of, are: Silk, and Cotton Voile.

Quilting Weight, is a very thin cotton, that looks like a cheap fabric. I would use this and love it, for making little dolls clothes. Nothing more. I prefer to spend some dollars more in buying the Cotton Sateen for anything in real big size. It won't be really much expensive, cause if you look carefully, Cotton Sateen is bigger. So, you pay more, but you get more fabric too :) And the fabric is better than Quilting weight. So, I do really suggest you to buy Cotton Sateen instead of Quilting weight.

Paying, Delivery and Customs

In case, you are about to make your first order, I tell you that Spoonflower system is easy to follow. It will guide you through all steps.
You will be able to:
Choose every fabric design you want to buy, how many yards in what fabric type, and put it into your cart, with the "Add to Cart" button.
Then, when done, you will see your Order, a list with all your items, and you will be able to choose what type of Delivery you want, to what country you want your order delivered, and how you will pay.
You will be able to specify a different address from yours, to send your order.

If you live outside USA, then you better get informed about your country custom's policy, so when your order arrives your country, you are aware of how much you will have to pay as taxes and so on in the custom.

You have 3 options when it comes to Delivery of your order, from Spoonflower.
First you have the Standard one, that can take near a month to get shipped from Spoonflower, then you need to add the postal system days, so, is the cheapest way and slowest one too. Only good if you really have time.
Spoonflower is, though, struggling now to make the standard delivery option back to it's originial only 4 or 5 days, they have been growing a lot, and they are really making an effort to get back on truck.
Then, you have Guaranteed Delivery Date, that it means, that you will have your order in your house, no matter what, before a date deadline. Usually 15 days later.
And the last one, the Rush option, you will have your order in one week approximately in your house. But is not cheap.

In case you want to buy a particular fabric, that is not for sale yet, and the designer lives in a different country from USA, do it in advance, cause it may take quite a time, 1 to 2 months of waiting for you, to get that particular fabric able for sale. At least now, that Spoonflower is growing up so fast, and struggling a bit, but I know they are working really really hard, no sleeping, and this time will get short again :)
But again, you better get in touch with the designer, cause it depending of his design, could be made sooner. Just send him a message inside Spoonflower system :)

Just some little tips for sharing.

Quiero compartir algunos tips sobre el uso de Spoonflower y la compra de telas en ese maravilloso sitio.

Para comprar, tienes que estar registrado en el sitio (tener un usuario, clave) y estar conectado, y tener disponible una tarjeta de crédito internacional (ya sea directamente, o a través de paypal)

Luego irás seleccionando las telas que te gusten y definiendo opciones (*), e irás clickando en "Add to Cart" (agregar al carrito de compras)
* Las opciones que tendrás son: elegir el tipo de tela y la cantidad de yardas; una yarda es casi un metro.

Entre los tipos de telas, quiero compartir un poco la experiencia de los que ya usan Spoonflower y sus preferencias.
Al costado derecho de la tela que estás viendo, tendrás este listado, donde están los distintos tipos de telas:
(los precios figuran en dólares estadounidenses por yarda)

Fabrics: (learn more about these)
Quilting weight ($18/yd)
Organic Cotton Sateen ($27/yd)
Organic Cotton Knit ($27/yd)
Upholstery-weight twill ($32/yd)
Linen-Cotton Canvas ($27/yd)
Silk Crepe de Chine ($38/yd)
Cotton Voile ($24/yd)

El Quilting weight es una tela de algodón, finita, con un aspecto como de barata. Está genial si quieres hacer cosas muy pequeñas, como ropa para muñequitas.

El O. Cotton Sateen es una tela de algodón muy linda, es fina, pero no tiene aspecto de barato como el Quilting Weight. Y si bien pagas más, recibes una yarda más grande, así que no es tanta la diferencia, apenas unos 3,4 dólares más, pero con mucha más calidad que la yarda de la Quilting Weight. Tiene una excelente impresión de los colores del diseño de la tela en cuestión. Se lo puede usar en ropa, como blusas, o en patchwork, quilting, ropa para niños.
Así que, a menos que hagas ropa para muñequitas, recomiendo esta tela a cambio de la quilting weight.

El O. Cotton Knit, es el tejido de algodón, ideal para ropita para bebé, porque es bien bien suavecito, tipo tejido de máquina bien chiquito. Es hermoso, e ideal para bebés.

El Upholstery-weight twill se supone es uno de los más gruesos tejidos de algodón que venden, está pensado para tapicería, y cosas por estilo. Aunque no ví a usuarios muy conformes con ese tipo de tela.

El Linen Cotton es un lino de algodón, ideal para hacer carteras por ejemplo, porque es más armadito que el Cotton Sateen.
El Silk es seda, supongo que está muy linda, sobretodo para hacerse un pañuelo con un diseño de tela especial.
El Cotton Voile, es un algodón BIEN BIEN finito y transparente. Ni idea para que lo usaría.

Síntesis, Mis Tipos de Tela preferidas son:

Cotton Sateen (como tela de uso general, de algodón, blusas, faldas, ropa para niños, patchwork, quilting, fundas almohadas, vestidos, etc.)

Cotton Knit (especial para ropita para bebés)

Linen Cotton Canvas (para hacerme una cartera, delantal, o almohadones tal vez)

Una vez que has agregado al carrito de compras todas las telas, en sus respectivas cantidades y tipo de tela, deseadas, podrás ir al siguiente paso, seleccionar el tipo de envío, estándar, con fecha de entrega asegurada, o super rápido (standar, guaranteed delivery date, y rush; tienen costos distintos), el país al cual lo enviarás, e ingresar la tarjeta para pagarlo, la dirección de envío y demás.

Por supuesto, la aduana según el país, tendrá sus modos y costos que pagarás al recibir el paquete en tu país, independientemente de lo que hayas pagado de producto y envío en Spoonflower.

* En Argentina, cada persona tiene 25 dólares de franquicia anual.

Y como regla, se debe pagar el 50% del valor del producto recibido.
